GAWD is an association or a membership non-profit organisation registered on 4th March 2021 under the Companies Act 2015 of the Kenya Constitution and later re-registered under Non-Governmental Organisations Board with a mandate to provide physical, psycho-Social and economic emancipation services to women with disabilities.

GAWD has a vision to champion the rights and interests of women and girls with disabilities throughout Kenya and hopefully with appropriate partnership internationally. GAWD’s headquarters is currently located along Mumias South Road, Opposite Thomas Burke Primary School, Buru Buru Phase 4, Nairobi City, Kenya.

GAWD was founded by Ms Amondi Mique, a Person with Disability, a Counselling Psychologist and a Professional Teacher of over 20 years experience. 

We focus on providing possible, practical  and interactive solutions for Persons with Disabilities by recognising the uniqueness of every individual member and exploring the unique potentials embedded in them in order to offer effective support.

Executive Director

Our CEO and founder holds an MA in Counselling psychology from Tangaza University College, a constituent of Catholic University of East Africa(CUEA), a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from Kenyatta University and is a registered member of the National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD), the umbrella body with core mandate of supporting persons with disabilities in Kenya. She is a long-time member of Association for Persons with Disabilities of Kenya (APDK) – a private voluntary association with the mandate to champion the rights and needs of persons with disabilities in Kenya. Ms. Amondi is also the national representative of women with disabilities at the Kenya Women Teachers’ Association (KEWOTA). Last but not least, she also is the Nairobi branch representative for teachers with disabilities at the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT).
